“Painting for me is so much more than producing artwork. I consider the process a sacred thing. It makes me happy; it fills me up, gives me a sense of wonderment, and peace.

It enables me to slow down and focus closely on the process, subject and detail.

The final outcome is always a mystery to me - I never quite know how it all comes together and then it does… It’s a beautiful thing”.

Meet Suzanne

Suzanne grew up north-west of Auckland, in a rural community of Kumeu. Her formative years provided her with a rich connection to nature, and an appreciation for the outdoors. Riding horses and meandering the family farm instilled a huge sense of freedom in her early years.

Suzanne has always had an appreciation for creativity, but it is only of recent years she has had the time to pursue it more intentionally.

Suzanne considers the painting process a sacred thing. A type of therapy that fills her up, stills her mind, provides a sense of calm/peacefulness and deep satisfaction.

Due to being a self taught artist, Suzanne values the ability to follow her own artistic path and self expression. She sees herself as a continuous learner with a strong curiosity for experimentation, embracing opportunities to dabble and play with ideas and concepts.

Suzanne’s practice incorporates the use of photography, along with foraging for item samples that help inform her work regarding texture and hues pertinent to the subject.

Her style currently is realism with an artistic license, offering a freedom to highlight certain aspects in order to generate aesthetic appeal.
